Just in case I'm not being clear: if the creators intentionally wanted the situation to paint Della and Louie as both sympathetic and unsympathetic, wouldn't that by definition disqualify them from being either Unintentionally Unsympathetic or Unintentionally Sympathetic?

Yes.

So should the entry be deleted?

I'm a DuckTales fan, so hopefully my opinion isn't biased.

But if the creators outright said that neither side was meant to be sympathetic or unsympathetic, I would say delete it.

As has been said in other ATT queries, YMMV still has objective requirements it has to meet before it can be put on a page.

Since it fits neither, then it should be deleted.

Saying it's an "opinion" and readding it means nothing in this case.

I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. Unintentionally Sympathetic is when a character comes across as more sympathetic than intended; it says so on the page and on the laconic. A math analogy: -2 is more than -5, but that doesn't mean -2 is a positive number.

The laconic actually says "An unsympathetic character gets more sympathy than the author intended." Personally, though, I think if a character was trying to have some complex morality, with sympathetic actions as well as unsympathetic actions, but came off as completely unsympathetic, it should still count. Tropes Are Flexible, after all.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

Tropes are flexible...but this is an Audience Reaction, not a trope. Is it actually flexible? Unlike tropes, these things can't be played with or varied; they're just about how people react to things.

You have a point it's not technically a trope that can be played with, but I think it still should count if the character was meant to be at all unsympathetic, but fans regarded them as completely sympathetic, and vice versa. If the fans mistakenly act like the character was meant to e 100% [un]sympathetic, then that's probably not this YMMV, but if they understand that the character was meant to be grey and still think it failed to make them sympathetic, I think it counts.
