It'd be real close to Friendly Neighborhood Vampire and Warm Bloodbags Are Everywhere. The latter's example list mentions that the protagonist of Vampyr is a vampire and doctor — maybe that's what you were thinking of?

It's definitely related to the above tropes, especially Warm Bloodbags Are Everywhere, but I think I'll see if I can scrounge up enough examples to make a TLP. Thanks!

Did you make that TLP? I've been looking for it.

If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.

I was only able to come up with four examples from works I'm familiar with, which didn't seem like enough to merit a TLP.

This is as far as I got with my draft: Vampire Doctor

Laconic:

A character whose chosen profession is directly contrasted by their Horror Hunger.

Description:

The individual in question may be a Friendly Neighborhood Vampire struggling with the fact that Warm Bloodbags Are Everywhere for them, or someone who is using their job to better hide what they are or even someone who has found a way to take advantage of their job such as by using blood donations for personal use or for their wider community. They might even have overcome the temptation of their Horror Hunger and are using their position helping those they naturally consider food as penance for doing so in the past.

Examples:

Literature

  • The Dresden Files: Thomas is a White Court vampire, a type of emotion eater that feeds through skin contact, who has learned to feed in tiny non-harmful amounts on the emotions of his clients as a hairdresser while doing their hair. This helps him reign in his hunger and prevents the types of situations he'd had at previous jobs that caused people to try to have sex with him at inappropriate times, but still leaves him feeling starved.
  • My Babysitter Is a Vampire: Vincent volunteers at a Blood Bank despite the inherent temptation of being near bleeding humans in order to abuse his position to steal blood.
  • Twilight: The vampire Carlisle Cullen has managed to attain such perfect control over his blood lust that he can operate as a medical doctor for humans without issue, despite it being incredibly difficult for vampires to hold themselves back from attacking when they smell human blood.
  • Vampire High: vaguely remember something about vampire doctors from reading this book at least fifteen years ago

Video Games

  • Vampyr: The main character is a vampire and a doctor, so he can see people's health conditions using his Vein-o-Vision. The best way to level yourself up quickly is by feasting on any of the unique civilian NPCs. They all have placards over their heads showing how much experience they're worth, so it temps the player as much as the thirst tempts Jonathan.

Webcomics

  • Third Shift Society: Simon Strauss is a vampire who acts as a doctor to the supernatural community, and humans tied to it. He uses his profession in order to get blood without endangering the humans it comes from.

Made TLP here. We'll see if it gains any traction.
