The word "yes" seems inadequate here.

This does read like a game, and the reason Hey Its That Guy and Hey Its That Voice were cut is so people wanting to engage in role association use, well, Role Association.

Feel free to add this to the Tropes Needing TRS sandbox.

If we fix this issue, I wonder where they'll add their shoehorns next.

^That's actually a good point, considering Did Not Do The Research misuse migrated to Critical Research Failure, and to a lesser extent, the prominent "don't put this in sinkholes; we mean it" notice on "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer hasn't stopped people from using it as a substitute for I Am Not Making This Up (though thankfully "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer misuse has been easier to keep in check).

It's like a game of whack-a-mole.

28th Jun, 2020 11:24:16 PM

I added it to the sandbox.

Funny thing is that an old TRS thread about one of the "Hey It's That" tropes (I think the 2010 one?) already mentioned this trope having problems.

Indeed, this is a bit of a problematic situation. I'm starting to wonder if we should open up a TRS discussion...?

Just a thought. If a pattern of misuse moves from one trope to another, perhaps creating a "sacrificial" outlet page for the misuse would work? That would be a better recipe for dealing with Critical Research Failure than for Hey Its That Voice, though.

Or maybe make a Cast / Credits namespace to crosswick everyone...

29th Jun, 2020 06:51:44 AM

^^ So basically a form of Darth Wiki to funnel these unwanted tropes away from the main pages?

RVA has been brought up for listing every minor connection before.

^ Or something like JustForFun.Actor Connections?

Itís worth noting that the description says the live action equivalent is Those Two Actors, but that doesnít seem to have nearly the same amount of misuse.

29th Jun, 2020 02:03:21 PM

Probably because it has nothing to do with anime and this problem seems to be tied to anime for some reason.

29th Jun, 2020 02:36:11 PM

The description says on the matter "More notable in Japanese (because of the larger pool of voice actors available), two or more voice actors are often put together in one anime series, sometimes as characters with a special relationship." The problem is that there's a distinction between two actors being cast together because of how they play off one another and two actors who happen to be cast in the same work.

29th Jun, 2020 06:29:53 PM

Don't we already have Role Association for the meaningless JFF outlet page? The problem is that people aren't using it.

29th Jun, 2020 08:23:47 PM

Well, yeah. Of course they're not going to use it. It's not a Main/ page and can't be linked to on the main wiki, therefore we won't be able to see the true brilliance of these entries.
