I'm not sure that quite fits what I'm looking for.
The example that had me wondering was the Justice League Unlimited episode featuring Hawk and Dove, with the two obviously representing conservative and liberal viewpoints, but said viewpoints were watered down to vague statements about how communication can solve conflict and the importance of personal freedom.
Is there a trope for when someone is supposed to have a political position, but in order to avoid offending anyone, all they only ever have bland, generic, inoffensive positions without taking sides on anything that might actually be controversial? Or would that just be another form of Strawman Political?
