I... do not think Fight Scene Failure can apply to written word. It's a reaction to a visual scene and specifically about it being fakey, not just less interesting.

I mean. I don't know what they expected.

The question of whether it can apply to the written word is a far better one.

Yeah, YMMV is weird because it has objective and subjective criteria and is more based on fandom opinion than individual opinion, but the other troper seems to think that the subjectivity part doesn't exist.

Of course, the issue of "written word" is something we do need to figure out.
