Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
No, per this thread,
we don't use work titles as namespaces anymore. Split it the second way.
^ Citation please? That just takes us to the main page, which tells us nothing. Where was this decided?
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallSince we don't want work pages as namespaces anymore, why shouldn't it be split as Roleplay/CDTAdventureTropesAToK and so on rather than creating more pages we'll have to move down the road?
Keet cleanupFor this page in particular, could some tropes be moved to a Characters page, instead of splitting the main? That is the preferred first line of splitting pages, and I see many tropes listed that, even by my strict standards, count as Character tropes.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"I have no idea why you keep saying we "don't want" these sort of namespaces anymore, rjd; there's a difference between us getting rid of things like Disney/ and Discworld/ as the main namespaces, and us keeping the normal namespace for the main page and using a custom namespace for the subpages. That's all they are. They're not work pages, so they shouldn't be in work page namespaces.
Either you're citing a rule that doesn't exist or misinterpreting a new standard that does exist, and either way it doesn't make much sense in this context; unless you think all trope subpages should be in main/, too?
Edited by WarJay77 Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallSee the second answer in the Frequently Asked Questions folder of the pinned post in the thread I linked. We're not moving work subpages yet, but we want to shift away from them in anticipation for TV Tropes 2.0, so we shouldn't be making more subpages that use the work name as a namespace.
Keet cleanupMy thoughts are summed up here
, which I'm not sure Rjd has read. To sum it up, I don't think 2.0 is necessarily happening as it seems more like a dream we've given up on, no one has come up with a resolution, and there's a concrete goal in OP about "one off namespaces not in actual trope content". And tbh, I don't think splitting like Roleplay/ is a good idea because that may make it seem like it's for a work and sets such a page type (and there could be someone who makes a work that ends with Tropes A To K or something just to troll us). I'd rather use something like TropesAToK/ or Tropes1/ for potential easier work connection which wouldn't introduce quite as many namespaces (my posts there might have said something else, but I was an idiot back then).
Yeah, if we absolutely need to not use the work as the namespace, fine, but we shouldn't have it as Roleplay/. That's too confusing and bloats the namespace too much; for a smaller namespace like Roleplay it might not be a big deal, but imagine that for one of our bigger namespaces, like Fanfic/ or Series/. It'll get ridiculous. (And, again, sets a weird Double Standard when it comes to Trope page splits, which use the Trope name and would have to be in Main/ now if we want consistency.)
Besides, while we do seem to want to move away from it, it's not a concrete rule that we can't do it, and 2.0 is a long way away, so we should find solutions that work here and now rather than force ourselves to work as if we're already in 2.0.

The Roleplay/CDTAdventure thread needs a split for sheer size, and there's some disagreement on how. Should the new pages be formatted as CDTAdventure/TropesAToK or Roleplay/CDTAdventureTropesAToK?
