Bump.
I think the climax took place on top of a mountain. It was very windy, and that's why the helicopter couldn't hold its position.

There was some children's novel I read in the mid-2000s that I'm trying to remember.
The Big Bad was an evil mastermind named (something) the Unready. For some reason, I think it might have been Ethel. I don't think it was Æthelred the Unready.
Anyway, "Ethel" had this shtick where he had delayed reactions to almost everything.
All I really remember was the climax. "Ethel" needed to get away from somewhere, so his mooks arrived in a helicopter and told him to jump and grab the ladder, saying they couldn't hold the helicopter's position for too long. Ethel jumped too late, and the helicopter was already out of the way, and he fell to his death.
I think the book might have been a spy/James Bond-style story, but I'm not certain.
