Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Should this deserve a ban?
Content Warning: My posts may involve my actions dealing with R-rated or Not Safe For Work content. Same for my edit history.I have checked the article history and most of the info added to it are historical facts, not praising. Unless any of it is factually wrong, I don't see the problem. Nobody wants to praise Pinochet, but he wasn't an evil alien that came from a UFO and started killing people for the heck of it; there was a historical context for it. There was indeed a conflict in South America at the time between Soviet-backed communist guerrillas that sought to establish communist dictatorships (as in Cuba) and US-backed right-wing dictatorships that sought to destroy them. That conflict was called "Cold War" (Vietnam was not the only "war by proxy" between the US and the Soviet Union).
Basically, Evil Versus Evil.
Edited by GrigorII Ultimate Secret WarsOne of the edits classifies literal everyone Pinochet killed as "Communists", which only makes sense if you fully accept the government's narrative, covering up the reality that Pinochet killed a lot of people simply for opposing him, or for objecting to having the democratically elected leader of their country removed and replaced with an unelected military dictator.
Also, we shouldn't classify this conflict as Evil vs. Evil, because we do not trope of make comment on real world political conflicts. We should not have a page on Pinochet, because it fall so far outside the sites mission statement as to be completely absurd. All of the information could be found on wikipedia, but with advantage of requiring things like sources, having a better oversight system, and requiring an academic and neutral tone.
Edited by TheMountainKingOn checking Antihero 276's edit history, there appears to be some questionable edits, including removing everything about the conspiracy theory that Dark Phoenix was deliberately undermined by Disney being a conspiracy theory, and some complaining about predictability in Game of Thrones.
EDIT: To clarify, I am also in favor of reverting.

By random chance, I happened to stumble upon the Augusto Pinochet page, checked out the editing history
just for curiosity's sake and saw some massive apologia issued by tropers antihero276 and AccursedFans.
