Sometimes there's Reverse Psychology, along the lines of:
- "Bob! Buddy, pal, friend, bro-""With a buildup like that, the answer is 'No'.""Do you mind if I borrow your car tonight? 'No', you say? Thanks Bob!"

Murray Goldberg in The Goldbergs has pulled this one frequently on his three children. Often even before they open their mouths to ask.
Edited by AgProv Elderly curmudgeon and awkward person. Professional old fart.

Do we have any tropes about preemptive refusal?
Situation:
During important discussion, Bob wanted to suggest something (with expected suggestion being "X"), only for Alice to interrupt him with "If you want to say "X", then answer is no". Wether Bob actually meant to say "X" is irrelevant. "X" in question can be anything situation-appropriate.
Tried, but failed to find anything fitting.
