Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
From the page:
"We ask to please please please do not list anyone that has not stated themselves that they have autism and do not speculate on anyone here."
so, frankly, it seems like a bad idea to include someone who was armchair-diagnosed by others, and who didn't even refer to himself as being autistic...
Yeah I don't think it's a good idea. Even more so when the speculation on his mental health is by people who never met him - Henry Darger died in relative obscurity. Any Psychiatrist would point out that a diagnosis of a patient you've never met is all the more unreliable.
While never diagnosed during his life, I wanted to add outsider artist Henry Darger on the list since scholars and psychiatrists both agree that many of his eccentricities line up perfectly with the disorder, with the media even running with it. I feel as though there's enough evidence to support it to not warrant any major debate, but I wanted to see if it a good idea to do so. What do you guys think?
