Those links shouldn't be removed.

Per Red Link: Always link to works that don't have a page yet. Not only does it invite people to make it, it makes the page healthier should it ever be created, too.

If it's a work, leave it. If it's a nonexistent/cut trope or work, remove it.

If you see someone doing that then please message them to restore the link, if they are doing that serially and ignoring requests to restore then report them here on Ask The Tropers for Mod intervention. It is a form of vandalism.

Red links are to be kept, indeed, except in indices. An index is supposed to list works that have actually a page on the wiki. Plus, to be indexed the entry must be added after the page creation.

I think it should be acceptable for Creator and Recap pages to index works that don't have pages yet, but otherwise I'm in agreement on the indices rule.

What about Franchises?

Edit: I assume it would be the same as the aforementioned Creator and Recap pages.

I just removed some links to Deep Throat, since it's a porn film that would violate our content policy anyway.

Another exception is if the work violates the Content Policy. We don't want to be tempting users to create pages for pornography.
