I found the song almost by accident - "I Go Solo" by Psycore
. Someone brought up their name in a Facebook music group and I looked them up, this was the second music video that turned up. I had the general idea of it being a Break-Up Song right, and the vocalist's distinctive pattern of calm monotone talking and then Suddenly Shouting, but a lot of my memory of it ended up distorted or maybe mixed up with other songs. For one thing, It's "I'm sorry for you", not "I'm happy for you" - he's apparently breaking up with his partner in the song because they're too needy and drop all their problems on him.

There was a distinctive intro to the song, where the singer kind of spoke in a robotic voice in rhyme - something that starts like "everybody wants something better, I'm happy for you". I don't remember the exact monologue, but I definitely remember it sounded like something one would say to be polite when seeing an ex with someone else, with "I'm happy for you" being said in a deliberately emotionless way. After this, it goes into a heavy riff and more angry, shouted vocals. It was on a promo CD that I think came with a Korn album, featuring other relatively heavy bands/artists. This was probably the late 90s, especially if I'm remembering the detail that it came with a Korn cd correctly - the last Korn albums I can remember having a physical copy of were Follow The Leader and Issues.
