Make Private (For security bugs or stuff only for moderators)

As far as I know, there's no way of fully deleting an account, even by moderators (which they frown upon). If you want to make your inaccessible (though please think a while before doing so), just log out, change the password to nonsense, and forget it.

Lmao why do they frown upon it? Account deletion is a basic thing on all websites.

It would be like me frowning upon lunch at school.

Account deletion would make it easier for ban evasion. At least, that's what I heard.

14th Jan, 2020 06:03:16 AM

You could ask them to ban you.

^^ Dude, you could make the same argument about every site on the fucking internet. Like I said, account deletion is a thing everywhere. I've seen a shitton of accounts deleted and not that much ban evasion. Going back to the lunch analogy, it would be like me banning lunch because it "distracts lessons".

Sorry if this came off as harsh. I have a habit of being brutally honest.

I'm pretty sure it isn't every site, TV Tropes can't be that unique.

14th Jan, 2020 06:16:18 AM

At least every site I've seen that allows users to make accounts. Still doesn't distract from my point tho.

Question? Is deleting your account that important. I mean you no longer wish to use it, shouldn't it be a non-issue.

Tv Tropes needs the account to investigate what a user has done in the past. This account I have is my second, the first one is around but I haven't used it in almost a decade.

Snuffy, TV Tropes has their reasons. Maybe a mod would explain.

Edit: This thread answers the question, I hope.
