Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
We don't have any rules. I'd prefer to keep such works separate, but the wiki in general tries to lump everything together, like how Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World share the subpages, despite the characters growing up and developing.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. The Fate series is justified because there are different incarnations of the same servants. That's just how the Nasuverse works. As for the Zero example, you can merge him because the ZX Zero is still the same X Zero.

I've seen it done two ways, generally: either a different character entry is made for each work, focusing solely on tropes that occurred in that work.
Or: a single character entry is made for the story as a whole, with all the character tropes in one place.
Which is used seems to depend entirely on the preference of the person writing the page, as well as possibly the size of the work in question and the complexity of the character entry.

What are the rules for characters who have multiple character profiles across different works set in the same timeline?
For example, Saber has three pages for her main timeline self: for the main visual novel, the direct sequel Fate/hollow ataraxia, and Fate/Zero, which takes place ten years before the VN.
On the other hand, Zero from Mega Man has two profiles: one for his appearance in Mega Man X, and one for Mega Man Zero, which takes place centuries after the X series.
