Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

^ No-no-no, Word of God can't be posted if you only have the information from private conversation. :-) It must be publicly accessible and verifiable to be mentioned. For example, if the author posts about it in comments or on their blog...
How about Fix Fic? It has many variants, in this case it could be that the fic "fixes" the death of a (favourite?) character by having the character survive (related to Alternate Continuity). The example context can mention that the character survives (or is implied to have survived).
Other than that, you'll have to wait for the fanfic to be updated. We can't trope unpublished material. That would be speculation and nothing is set in stone. The author could easily change their mind.
Edited by XFllo^ True that private messages are untropable. But Fix Fic would be an even worse fit since the survival didn't appear in the fic itself, as the OP said. On the other hand, the survival would become Word of God if it was stated in a non-private medium outside of the fic.
Edited by Albert3105^ However, if they are mentioned in the fic, the survival is implied at the least. It can be mentioned in the description (if you believe it's something important for the fans of the show or readers of the fic) and the trope can be identified later once the character appears or their accident gets talked about.
Essentially, it isn't a big deal. All work pages are work-in-progress.
^ I've been told somewhere that Media Adaptation Tropes can apply to fanfic. One shouldn't trope information that is not apparent in the fic itself, though.
@OP: How do you know the character is alive in the fic if it's not mentioned in the story?
Edited by AdeptSorry, it looks like I didn’t word it properly. The character is alive. The main character brings up their first name, their former asshole commander and their terrible singing.
When I asked the author to make sure I was reading that right they said that it was the character and they were left paralyzed instead of dead. It’s just the paralyzed part that isn’t in the story.

So, I'm working on a work page for a fanfic and there is a bit of information I don't know how to handle.
A character that died in canon is alive in this story. I asked the author in a PM if this was the case and they told me yes but the incident that killed them in canon instead left them paralyzed from the waist down. However, this isn't stated anywhere in the story itself, as the character hasn't made an appearance, only been mentioned.
How should I handle putting this information in the work page?
