Not specifically about being unable to contact them, but depending on what happened to the missing person and how the person trying to contact them reacts and when — I Just Knew, Gut Feeling, My Significance Sense Is Tingling, or Uncertain Doom?

^ Hmm, none of those really seem to fit the examples I have in mind. It's more just like "we haven't seen our friend in a bit, which is weird, but what's even weirder is that they won't respond to my text messages. Something must be wrong with them".

I guess this scenario can lead to those scenarios, but this sort of situation usually has more emphasis on the search-and-mystery stuff than the realization/rescue aspect. At least, from what I've seen.
