Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Acceptable Targets is "the work considers this group to be an acceptable target" not "fans of the work consider this group to be an acceptable target."
Honestly, that would be closer to The Scrappy than anything else and using it that way seems completely redundant.

<(0_0<) <(0_0)> (>0_0)> KIRBY DANCEIt's come up a lot in discussions, and the long and the short of it is that even though it's an objective thing, it's on YMMV because of how it can attract flamebait or arguments, similar to Complete Monster.
Personally, I don't agree with that and think it should go to the main page, but I've not gotten any traction on that.

Duly noted, I assumed it was the latter (the trope page makes it a little hard to tell), I'll remove a few knowing that.
That said, it should probably still be in YMMV unless the show itself confirms that "yes, we consider this type of person 100% mockable".

Recently while editing YMMV.Survivor, I cut most of an entry for Acceptable Targets since I know there have been issues with misuse in the past and I wasn't convinced the listed examples fit; the only part I left behind as potentially legitimate was about people who quit the game, since "quitters" is a category that automatically gets scorned by the show.
Since then, I glanced over the Acceptable Targets page itself and saw a "This is based on opinion" warning; though I wasn't sure if it meant it was limited to YMMV or that it wasn't to be used period. Happyfrybreath also restored a couple examples and added new ones "that most people seem to agree upon".
So what's the consensus of the community at large? I'm not entirely sure what the right way to use Acceptable Targets is, if at all.
