Video Source has basic guidelines.

GIFs are not forbidden as far as I know but personally I don't think they would be very illustrative.

Also, I don't think a full copy of any youtube video should be added as a video example because that doesn't fall under fair use. However reasonably long cuts or part of the video should be okay.

If the entire video owned by someone else is 9 seconds long, it's probably not kosher to add it.

There was a purge of Pro ZD's videos a while ago because people were uploading the entire (sub-minute) video. See this ATT thread.
