Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
While it is external, it is something that has a direct effect on the resulting work.
I'll admit it strikes me more as Trivia, but the trope gets a lot of misuse and thus we have a lot of stuff to weed out anyway.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand! What Zyfyr said. All it has to be is a deliberate attempt to slip something past the censors.
It doesn't have to be lampshaded, and usually won't be if it's a deliberate joke or Easter Egg. It's also not necessarily something directed at the network or publisher (or whoever), so Biting-the-Hand Humor doesn't have to apply. A lot of the time the latter are even okay with the occasional Parental Bonus, just as long as it isn't obvious to the target audience.

What exactly makes Getting Crap Past the Radar a trope? It only exists based on content restrictions that don't exist in the work itself, just outside of it. Something doesn't have narrative value just because the creators mentioned that they were trying to get it past the censors. Unless it's subtly lampshaded In-Universe, but that could go under a trope like Biting-the-Hand Humor.
