Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
I've sent them a PM in an effort to resolve this before a suspension is needed. This ATT has been linked.
Hey y'all, sorry about this. I haven't been on this site much since I joined, so it's only now I decided to contribute some more (my personal schedule was pretty hectic when I joined, but now I have more free time to contribute) I do apologise for any tension I've stirred up.
I checked the Administrivia pages, and I am currently trying to fix some of the example indentation trope lists. (It wasn't all that clear to me at first, but I reread it several times to get the point.)
I didn't mean to cause any trouble, rest assured, but it's pretty much because of my inexperience and again, I apologise. That being said, are there any specific examples I can try to fix? It'd be a very great help for me if either of you could point me in the right direction.
Edited by LordPandon49Hey, I'm just glad you stopped by.
The most important things to consider (besides example indentation, which you seem to understand) is Zero-Context Example and the information on How to Write an Example. I did notice on page had a Magnificent Bastard example on it, which is definitely not kosher, because it's YMMV (and thus does not belong on main pages) and all examples need to be run through a designated forum thread.
But, like I said in the PM, your pages are off to a good start. Once I can help you figure everything out, I think you'll be just fine.
...Oh, and you may want to consider Crosswicking as well.
Current Project: The TeamI think what would be really helpful to you is making a Sandbox for the corrected/updated versions - for example, Sandbox.GMen75. Once you have that drafted, you can copy and replace the live page to get everything in one swoop.
You might find it best to do the fixes thematically - for example, do your indentation fixes, then your context fixes, etc. I'm looking at one specific improperly indented tree on G-Men75:
- It's Personal: Tachibana's wife and child are killed by getaway drivers in a robbery in Episode 105. He spends the rest of the episode trying to avenge their deaths.
- The Grand Finale has Kuroki try to solve his personal That One Case: the grisly murder of a French prostitute wherein he arrested the wrong man.
Since you've been checking out the Administrivia pages, you might have this one already in mind, but the way to correct this would be the trope name on the first-level bullet, and then each example on its own second-level bullet. For example:
- It's Personal:
- Tachibana's wife and child are killed by getaway drivers in a robbery in Episode 105. He spends the rest of the episode trying to avenge their deaths.
- The Grand Finale has Kuroki try to solve his personal That One Case: the grisly murder of a French prostitute wherein he arrested the wrong man.
Thanks. The sandbox seems particuarly helpful. I'll do my best to correct the indent mistakes, and I'll try to do the Crosswicking when I can.
Edited by LordPandon49Update: How does this look? https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Sandbox/GMen75
In terms of indentation, much better, though you skipped That One Case.
Current Project: The TeamRight, thanks.
So the next thing I'd encourage you to work on is example context.

Lord Pandon 49, history here, has been making a lot of pages in a short period of time. Unfortunately, they seem to be making them in a rush, and they are leaving behind a lot of editing mistakes while doing so. I sent them a notifier a few days ago about Taiyo Ni Hoero, asking them to check out a few Administrivia pages. They made a few fixes, but then went onto make other pages with the same errors. They didn't learn from the pages I sent in, more than they made a token effort on the first page, and then continued to edit the exact same way on other pages.
They're not new either, apparently, so this worries me.
