Got to look it up to see who it were. Since i was part of the brony fandom from the beginning, it was just fandom doing their shipping and were the most popular non main character ship. However, once the show staff knew the Audience and the fandom Quirks, i bet they intentionally add stuff to the fuel.
I have long thought that Ho Yay needs to be made into a subtrope of Ship Tease. The article has this implication that we can imagine them as a couple in the secure knowledge that it will never be canon, but that is becoming ever less true.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.^ But then people are just going to stuff their headcanon ships into Ship Tease and the newly-retooled Ho Yay. We need this trope the way it is to keep fan interpretation out of other tropes, as Ho Yay is just fans finding unintentional gay-Ship Tease. Unintentional.
And it's a fandom phenomena.
Edited by WarJay77 Current Project: The TeamI say do what was done for Korra. Keep everything prior to season 5, and move everything afterward to Ship Tease.
Edited by Crossover-Enthusiast Jawbreakers on sale for 99ยขSo now that we've established Ho Yay has to be unintentional, I think some kind of cleanup for it is called for. I'd say most of the entries for fan works are for official couples, the opposite of this. What about the other Yay tropes?
There's already a cleanup thread. It's a Short-Term Project, though, so it moves at a snail's pace.
One of the most popular Les Yay parings from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic just upgraded to Official Couple in "The Big Mac Question". What does that mean for their Ho Yay entries since my impression that anything unambiguous and intentional are not this. HoYay.The Legend Of Korra only includes the stuff for the canon couple prior to to Season 3 when they were intentionally being set up.
The subtext has been undeniably intentional since at least Season 5.
Do we leave the parts prior to their Relationship Upgrade? Move any of it to Ship Tease or Homoerotic Subtext?
