Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
I've cleaned up a few examples of misuse, but have also uncovered another issue: the same troper who added the misuse of He Also Did has also added numerous entries under Retroactive Recognition for writers and directors, when the trope page suggests it's for actors rather than writers or directors. Should these be zapped as well?
(In the interest of full disclosure, I haven't yet sent a PM to the troper in question; "We are not IMDb" might be the most pithy subject line at this point.)
Something like that, probably. I'd imagine that also explains the borderline encyclopaedic entries for Relationship Voice Actor referenced in another ATT thread.
I've trimmed a few dozen instances of misuse at this point (mostly for Western Animation where the He Also Did entries simply name other animated series on which the writers, animators, or voice actors have worked); I am starting to wonder if this might require a short-term cleanup thread. (And a PM to the most frequent offenders on the misuse front; turns out there's more than one.)
Weirdly, there's absolutely a place on this wiki for those lists; Creator pages! Why don't these tropers add the information there?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.^ Adding work lists is easy, writing the creator information (and finding a picture of less cumbersome license) is a far more difficult thing to do. Also, I think some editors have the impulse to write something while on a trope page, but can't carry it on launching a page.
Scientia et Libertas | Per Aspera ad Astra NovaThat only applies to Creator pages that don't yet exist. We sometimes have longer lists of works in some of these random tropes than we do on the Creator page itself, which is why I said add the information, not create the page.

Tangentially related to MasterHero's ATT about Relationship Voice Actor, I've noticed an increasing number of Trivia/ pages that feature misuse of He Also Did. Per the page itself, "These are examples of well-known works (not obscure experiments) of creators that are so far out of their perceived niche that often times people don't immediately realize the person behind it." Things like Mel Brooks, the same guy who gave us The Producers, Blazing Saddles, and Young Frankenstein, also being the producer of The Elephant Man and The Fly (1986). Or iconic 20th century science fiction author Ray Bradbury working on the script for the John Huston film of Moby-Dick.
Thing is, I've seen a growing number of Trivia/ pages where He Also Did is essentially treated as a successor to Hey Its That Guy, sometimes for performers and sometimes for creators; in particular, I've seen multiple pages for television series where there are entries for seemingly everyone who wrote or directed an episode with the names of other series they've created or for which they've written or directed, almost all of which are in the same genre (for example, a page for a sitcom simply lists the other sitcoms for which the series' writers have written).
Should a cleanup thread be started to address this misuse? (It looks as though most of them were added by the same troper
, so sending a PM is presumably also in order.)
