When I was a kid I saw this horror movie or show on TV that has stuck with me for decades despite me never knowing what the heck it actually was at all.
What I remember about it was that it took place in a jungle or forest of some kind; I think the main characters were soldiers and they were trying to rescue someone, I think it may have been the love interest of the hero, from monsters. I can't remember if the monsters were werewolves or some kind of beastial things or zombies or what, but they scared me as a kid. The characters had to go inside a cave system to rescue the person and they encountered an ally who was wounded, or maybe one of the heroes got wounded as they were going in, and they were forced to leave him behind, but he had a grenade or an explosive of some kind and blew himself up to destroy the cave just as the main character and the person he was rescuing were escaping. and then the final scene of the show I remember is the hero and his love interest waking up in bed, and it was like one of them had been having a bad dream, and the other assures them that it was "just a dream", and then the camera pulls back from the couple and we can see the monsters starting to crawl out from under the bed all around them.
I've been trying to figure what the movie or show was forever, but no luck so far.
