Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Yeah, they seem more concerned with real life...
Current Project: The TeamIt would be a decent commentary, but I would suggest rewording this one. Is a decent observation (and one I can testify is real)
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back. The edit’s not the problem; it’s the confrontational edit reason.
My Fanfiction.net Page My DeviantArt PageGeographical IP overlap confirmed. Please revert. They've been bounced.
I removed the one in Kiddie Kid.
Edited by KuruniI readded the "and smoking" to Truth In Television. About their edit reason, I don't live in America, but I know that a lot of teenagers smoke... really a lot of them
Edited by annette12The U.S. federal minimum smoking age is 18.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand! That doesn't stop people, though.
Current Project: The TeamTo me, it qualifies as parental hypocrisy since there is no such thing as being old enough to smoke.
There is a such thing...teenagers shouldn't even be smoking simply because it’s illegal. Also, teenagers have sex, but adults can still be arrested for sleeping with them since they are under 18. So yes I shouldn’t count.
Again, "should" and "do" are different things.
Current Project: The TeamAlso, icewaterfire22 removed "and smoking".
It's not illegal for teenagers to smoke in the US, it's illegal for adults to sell or give tobacco to minors.
"and smoking" fits well within the context, since it has nothing to do with should, but whether it's possible or not.
It would've been better to wait for a consensus to adding back, though. I don't know if we need to pull it to Discussion, to be honest.
...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.
So I Was Raised By A Narcissist just added this to the description for Kiddie Kid
"Despite the endearing and harmless concept, this is quite possibly the socially rejected label of teenage culture; what's worth noting is that most of the kids on this trope are usually somewhere on the Autism Spectrum Disorder, which wouldn't be so bad if people just accepted the fact that other people are different and prefer to be treated equally."
with the edit reason, "Sorry. But I'm putting this back to raise awareness. Seriously, stop riling up nice people with autism and accept the fact that they're different and want to have friends. Would you rather them be doing something rebellious and bad?! My God, will this ever change?!?"
So...putting aside the whole "most of these entries are autistic kids" thing, this reads as waaaay too soapboxy for the work page. Considering how their only other edit is for Truth in Television, the edit reason of which is "Teenagers are too young to be smoking, God will people ever learn this shit? The smoking age in America is at least 21+", it really seems like they've got a problem.
EDIT: So I looked on the history page and icewaterfire22 also put in a "kids on the autism spectrum" addition that was later deleted. Other edits include deleting jerk-related tropes from Truth in Television, bringing up the "serious issue of bullying", deleting Immaturity Tropes about teenagers for being "offensive"...yeah, not sure what to say here.
