Sounds like the artist Can't Hold His Liquor, does that trope page list a movie that sounds familiar?
If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight.

Yep. It's Blind Date. I didn't check before posting because I didn't know what that trope was called.
Merry Chriztmaz ya filthy animals!

I saw an old movie on an over-the-air station a few years ago. The main gimmick is this mild-mannered artist can't have any alcohol or else he'll go "crazy" and get into a bunch of funny shenanigans. So it opens in an art gallery after dark. A woman comes to compliment him about the success of his work, gets him to drink some champagne, and the funny stuff starts. They hit the town, cause mayhem everywhere, notably in a house or club with a jazz musician, and the next thing I remember is a scene outside a courthouse about coming up with a legal defense for it all. Then I remember a mansion with sprawlng grounds and the plot became a complicated slog. Something about a wedding and the woman, who was now a love interest. The final scene was the artist and woman on a beach somewhere during their honeymoon. As they start making out the camera pans to a 2 liter of Coke in place of a bottle of champagne. Cue music, roll credits.
The movie was from the late 70s to late 80s. Does anyone recognize it?
