Tomato Surprise does not require a supernatural "tomato". Tomato in the Mirror is a subtrope where the "tomato" character is also unaware until the reveal.

  • The page image is from the episode "Hall Monitor", in which Sponge Bob and Patrick are out to catch a maniac who broke through open windows and caused car crashes. It's revealed to the audience about halfway through that SpongeBob himself is the maniac, and the rest of the episode derives a lot of its humour from the fact that he and Patrick can't figure it out despite how increasingly obvious it is.
