Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
The Text Formatting Rules say that you can use invoked, though I'm not entirely sure what the procedures are beyond that.
You can use either invoked or In-Universe, like so:
* EnsembleDarkhorse: An InUniverse example with Bob from the ShowWithinAShow Bob and Alice, who is extremely popular despite being shown to be a minor character.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Bob, from the ShowWithinAShow Bob and Alice, is extremely popular in the universe of TV Tropes The Show despite being a minor character. invoked
They'll show up like this (the invoked deliberately doesn't show up, but does still mark the example as being in-universe):
- Ensemble Dark Horse: An In-Universe example with Bob from the Show Within a Show Bob and Alice, who is extremely popular despite being shown to be a minor character.
- Ensemble Dark Horse: Bob, from the Show Within a Show Bob and Alice, is extremely popular in the universe of TV Tropes The Show despite being a minor character.

So I'm writing an In-Universe example of a YMMV trope, as part of what the author wanted to communicate. However, I don't remember how to invoke it in the article itself.
