If the namesake died earlier in the story, it's an example of Dead Guy Junior. But I don't think we have a trope for the general concept of "[Namesake] Jr."

Huh, no kidding! I would've thought there would be a trope like that. At least without the dead guy part, lol

But yeah Star you're right too. It's very common in shows but there isn't much reasoning on why they name their kid [name] Jr..
