I think this is referring to those stories of ProJared apparently cheating on his wife, so people are now automatically discrediting him as a content creator.
ProJared is currently facing some extreme backlash, so this might be an act of vandalism, but he does seem to have quit making videos, his most recent was four months ago and the next most recent is nearly a year old.
ProJared was just recently, as in yesterday, caught in a cheating and (possible) pedophilia scandal. His channel's hemorrhaging subscribers and no new information on the matter or any of the involved parties has come up since yesterday, but the channel is still up. Might be a little premature.
Edited by CrystalGlacia "Jack, you have debauched my sloth."Has Jared formally said that his video channel is ending?
His latest video was made yesterday.
I have not seen anything stating such; the past tense should be removed. I'd do it myself if I wasn't at work.
"Jack, you have debauched my sloth."We should probably keep an eye on ProJared and its subpages. Nothing brings out the wonks like a potentially career ending scandal.
The troper who added this, by the way, is Captain Skywalker.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI agree. While I feel like the career ending scandal should be talked about on here for the YMMV page, I can expect a lot of ROCEJ coming up.
It's troping real life, so I'd say keep all of his scandal information off the examples sections/pages.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!yep. the scandal is about Jared Knabenbauer the person, not ProJared the youtube channel. it doesn't belong on the pages and we need to keep a close watch on them to make sure it doesn't show up there.
Edited by razorrozar7 Migrated to Chloe Jessica!reverted tense changes per consensus.
Migrated to Chloe Jessica!Might be worth locking his page due to the fact it's a pedophilia scandal on top of a cheating scandal.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they pretty^already requested in the relevant thread.
Migrated to Chloe Jessica!i cleaned up the ymmv page and will be keeping an eye on it.
Migrated to Chloe Jessica!Added a notice to the YMMV page.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!cleaned and put a notice on the tearjerker page.
Migrated to Chloe Jessica!and the trivia page. the rest of them haven't been edited since the scandal broke.
Migrated to Chloe Jessica! To be entirely fair to the editor his career isn't looking good.
The Game Grumps have already unpersoned him by removing all the videos they had him on as a guest for from their channel and the head producer of Normal Boots is investigating him after several of his victims messaged in so he may get fired from there, to.
Between that and nearly every publication that has gamers in their demographic running stories about the scandal he's pretty much circling the toilet.
^agreed, but we don't trope speculatively. until and unless he actually quits, no tense change is needed.
e: also, normalboots has already terminated him, and in fact had been in the process of doing so since before the scandal broke publicly.
Edited by razorrozar7 Migrated to Chloe Jessica!I just knew the upper management at the studio had been informed by the victims and made statements to the press it was being investigated. I didn't know they had already terminated him.
I guess that means his career is officially over because that makes two major troupes in gaming web media (Normal Boots and Game Grumps) that he was affiliated with blacklisting him.
^he can still make videos whether he's affiliated with those groups or not. he can still make videos even if no one ever watches a single thing of his again (which, imo, would be the case in a perfect world). unless he, himself, declares his intention to end his career, it doesn't affect the page.
Migrated to Chloe Jessica!Leaf Thornton reverted the cuts to the YMMV page, and abused spoiler policy when readding them to boot. they removed them again later, but they still ignored the discussion and engaged in edit warring.
e: they also hadn't edited the wiki in a year prior to this, suggesting they came here specifically to import drama.
Edited by razorrozar7 Migrated to Chloe Jessica! While the decision to keep the page professional outside of the drama is understandable, there is a minor problem: the Harsher in Hindsight part. Many of Jared videos where he talks about his wife and even joke about cheating her become this or either "Funny Aneurysm" Moment.
How will this be handled?
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.^Might be one of the few cases in which it's been use correctly. But only the ones about cheating on his wife.
itd be "Funny Aneurysm" Moment, since the original comments were jokes. that page specifically says that later real-life events that make the joke not funny do qualify, so those can be listed on the YMMV page. however, having the entry there will encourage people to import more drama, so it'll need to be watched like a hawk. i already have all the relevant pages on my watchlist, but im only one woman.
Migrated to Chloe Jessica!I don't think were barred from mentioning it if it's relevant to a trope like Harsher in Hindsight in regards to interactions on-camera with this wife or that time listed he ranted about a character being a creepy pervert.
The thing is just that we don't want people engaging in real-people troping like trying to apply villain tropes to Jared as a person.
Edited by CryptidProductionsTrivia.Game Grumps includes the following mention of ProJared: "In April 2019, all of the Grumpcade episodes featuring ProJared were quietly made private and were no longer available for public view. Considering a month later his wife, Heidi O'Farrell, made accusations of infidelity and emotional abuse, it's likely the Grumps received word ahead of time and wanted no further involvement."
It's listed under Missing Episode, with incorrect indentation to boot.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99ยข^ I fixed the indentation and reworded the entry.
On the ProJared page, someone changed "is a gaming review channel" to "was a gaming review channel". Other parts of the page were also changed to past tense.
I thought his channel was still going? I thought he still had an active career? I didn't think he stopped making videos.
