As your friendly neighborhood Admin Team, the gang here at TVTropes HQ is always working to improve the site.
Many of those improvements begin with suggestions posted right here, on the Community Wishlist. Is there a feature you really want on TVTropes? Post it.
Is there something we could be doing better? We want to know. Do you think we look fat in these pants? We were totally afraid of that. See a bug? Report it.
Important things to know:
- We're all about that content-creation life! The top contenders for our attention are ideas that'll create more content, like the video uploading feature, or speed up launching new pages. On the flip side, design or layout tweaks won't be our top priority.
- Help us dig through the goldmine of old wishlist items! If you have an old request gathering dust or spot one you're totally on board with, give it a bump and a like. There's a treasure trove of 6+ years' worth of ideas just waiting to be rediscovered. Items without enough love may not make the cut and will be closed.
- Was your wishlist item locked up without an explanation? It was most likely disapproved or just too big of a task versus the benefit it would ultimately have. Time is precious, and we want to focus on updates with the biggest bang for the buck. Don't be discouraged though! We appreciate every idea and we're always listening.
There's a toggleable option on Wikipedia that makes links to disambiguation pages orange, so maybe something like that could work instead.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!Though it would be easier to redlink pages in the disambig page type rather than the Ambiguity Index. What if the index gets too long and has to be split, which seems like it could happen in the near future?
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods Of Incremental)While I have proposed another means of flagging Ambiguity Index items, this proposal is another good option.
As for issues arising from an eventual split once the page gets long, that would need a toggle on the subpages on the admin side. If it's not feasible, we should prioritize splitting off work-based disambiguations. We could also clean out some egregious entries as well.
Edited by Berrenta she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportA problem that might occur is that people may remove them without checking if they're disambigs. Maybe it could be some other color than red.
I mean... disambigs are supposed to be removed, lmao
Current Project: The TeamWell, often times they're supposed to be changed to some other name.
But most people will be conditioned to ignore red links thinking that someone might make a page out of it, or because what's the use of clicking on a link that doesn't take you anywhere. Making disambigs a different color would be the best solution.
"Can't say fork? That's bullshirt!"^ Like green, or yellow, or something else? We already have a proposal to make "namespace-only links" (i.e. links to a page where the namespace is correct, but the title doesn't exist) purple.
I think the issue is that there are two kinds of disambiguation links. Work links, which always need to be renamed if possible; and cut trope links, which in a lot of cases have to just be removed. So while red work links will be ignored, the opposite is true of a red trope link.
Current Project: The TeamDisambiguation pages now appear as green links. I'd say we can call this issue solved.
"Can't say fork? That's bullshirt!"Yup. Lock.

Fairly simple suggestion. Pages in the Ambiguity Index should show up as redlinks even though they technically exist (like with This Troper and some other pages), to discourage linking to them.
