Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Plot Tunnel is actually linked to in one of the bits of Word Cruft included in the edits, but "temporary Plot Tunnel" is redundant since they're temporary by definition.
You can't just say "perchance".Bumping because it looks like the mods may have missed this one.
Edit: Since there was no reply, I used the Report Page button and linked to this query.
Edited by GastonRabbit You can't just say "perchance".Sorry for the delay, but after reviewing the page history, Rockdeworld has been banned for edit warring. You guys can remove the example since it doesn't fit. Please make sure your edit reason states you have mod approval.
That’s the epitome of privilege right there, not considering armed nazis a threat to your life. - SilaswI removed the misuse, and my edit reason linked to this query and mentioned that mod approval was given.
You can't just say "perchance".I feel I've been treated unjustly here and ask for my side of the story to be heard. I thought I was doing the right thing by this wiki's standards.
I thought my original edit fit the definition of Point of No Return going by its description and other examples I saw. Same with the indentation.
My Final Edits removed it and sent me a message:
—-
Hi there. Your Point of No Return edit has some indentation issues. Please have a look at the Example Indentation article to see how we'd like to keep things organized.

That was cordial enough for me, but it seemed to me they were wrong based on my understanding of the trope. In addition, it looked like they were starting an edit war because they just removed my post on their own.
I looked for anything I could do to fix the situation - a way to ask mods for help or some kind of oversight.
I saw "Is there an issue? Send a Message", so I sent My Final Edits a message:
—-
It looks like you've misunderstood Point of No Return. You removed an example that exactly matches the description and several other examples. You also cited indentation as one of the reasons to remove it, when that was something you could have easily fixed yourself. Please be more considerate when applying edits.

I understand now that I was wrong about Point of No Return. I want to point out that I didn't say they should do anything, as was posted above. And I was trying to inform, not hurt, My Final Edits. I don't know how to write a message less confrontational than I did.
In any case, that didn't solve my problem of (what I thought was) my good edit being removed. I'm not a frequent editor on this site and don't have the same intimate knowledge of the site's rules that you all do - I couldn't find anything even remotely resembling a way to contact moderators or administrators - so it looked like I had no way for redress.
For that reason I re-added my post. It was literally the only option I saw.
The last thing I have to say is that My Final Edits sent me a last message that seemed rude to me:
—-
Um, no. Point Of No Return is for permanent cases, when you can't return to any previous point in the game anymore (the trope's definition, which you're gleefully citing without actually knowing the full content, says: "The Point of No Return is a place in the story of a video game where it permanently becomes impossible to revisit earlier areas. Any optional sidequests or items (e.g. the Infinity +1 Sword) are effectively lost permanently from here on out"). Any by the way, "just fix it yourself if it bothers you" is NEVER a valid excuse for you or any editor to misindent. The indentation rules must be followed by all editors, and whenever someone misindents they should receive an Issue Helper on the matter so they avoid repeating the same mistake in the future.
Lastly, since you re-added the example after its removl, you're triggered an Edit War, which is a bannable offense.

I am not ok with people writing to me "you're gleefully citing," nor "Any by the way," and especially not the last sentence, because of the rest of the message's tone.
Last, this conversation being held, and resulting in banning me, without giving me any kind of notification, seems unjust to me, because only one side of the story was heard. Comments like That Nerf Guy's seem to me especially so.
First of all, you shouldn't be posting P Ms here.
Second, you need to go to the Edit Banned thread to appeal your suspension. Posting on ATT does nothing.

rockdeworld added an unfitting example of Point of No Return (see here
), namely a case of temporary not being able to go back (the trope's definition clearly says it's for permanent cases. Furthermore, it violated indentation rules. I removed it, but then they added it back, thus triggering an edit war. Worse, after I sent them an Issue Helper on the matter, they said the example was valid (apparently they only interpret the mere act of not being able to go back as an example, disregarding the fact that it's only temporary) and said that I should just have "fixed [the misindentaion myself]"" (as if it was something optional I could do just because they chose not to).
