Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Given that the announcement was four whole days before April 1, it seems obvious that it isn't a joke.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Regardless of whether it's true or not—which it is, as you and bwburke94 have said—"don't be a dick" is the site's number-one rule, and he's definitely breaking it.
Edited by iamconstantine@iamconstantine Is there anyway to properly report this kind of person to a moderator? I have screenshots of the messages if they need proof. Anyone in particular you could point me to that might help out?
Edited by BloodyPantasticSeconding that.
Considering Dead by Daylight was developed and published by slightly smaller companies there's no way they'd put that much money and effort (Hiring Bruce Campbell and licensing his likeness, designing the art assets, and programming the character) into an April's Fools joke.
Especially not an elaborate one started days before before April Fools even came.
^^ Though you could contact the mods—here's a list of the staff and links to contact them—they browse Ask The Tropers pretty frequently, so I think they'll see this and it will be taken care of soon enough.
Edited by iamconstantineOkay, I added links to screenshots of the P Ms in case ya'll needed proof.
I mean, we (the normal folk) don't need to see the P Ms. Mods can look at P Ms themselves when necessary.

However, we do ask that PM's not be shared in public forums. It seems OP was unaware of this and how to contact mods directly (PM or a private ATT query), so this is an amiable reminder. I've also edited out the links and the second full quote from the original query.
Thank you.
And yes, I was not aware of that stuff. I will keep that in mind for future situations. Thank you again for the help!
For what it's worth, the content under dispute is now live and available for purchase, so it definitely was not an April Fool's joke
I mean, the idea that it was an April Fool's Joke was... absolutely insane.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Well, that was All for Nothing for TroperBeDoper.
I mean, Gmail was released on April 1, 2004, and that was legitimate.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!I feel this query has been resolved; TroperBeDoper is permanently suspended and they attempted ban evasion, so I don't think there's much risk of them relapsing any time soon.
Yeah. Honestly I'd forgotten who the problem troper was at first. I was mostly just providing a quick FYI to wrap things up.
Backstory: Ash from Evil Dead is being added as DLC for a game called Dead by Daylight. Here's the announcement trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TIn-XB9QSM4
I added Ash to the character page for DBD only to find it was all deleted by a Troper named Troper Be Doper. This was his editing reason: "This could not be a more obvious April Fools joke. Look at the date* he's released for cripes sake. Deleting this."
So I decided to sent a PM asking him not to delete it and that it wasn't an April Fools joke since it was officially announced (plus I heavily doubt they would waste money to get Bruce Campbell, make fully functional perks and model and have him playable at PAX East, including complete alternate cosmetics too.)
This was what I got in response: "It's not happening. This couldn't be more obviously an April Fools gag if they released him on the day. I'm deleting him come April 1st when this turns out to be a joke. Just you wait. And I'm gonna rub it in your face."
It appears that there's no report troper feature on TV Tropes so this seemed like the best place to talk about it.
I would have added screenshots of the PMs but it seems it won't allow it here. You can, however, look at the DBD character page editing history to see his edit where he removed Ash.
