The change in the game content does count as Executive Meddling, the shelf pulling as Too Soon.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDoes anyone else think "their meddling was obvious" sounds really negative? Or is it just reading that way because Executive Meddling is so often used for complaining on the wiki?
^It's Word Cruft either way (and potentially Flame Bait due to why the change was made), but I think both of the traits you listed apply. The scare quotes in the same sentence aren't helping, either, considering how much more serious of a subject 9/11 was in the early '00s.
Edited by GastonRabbit Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Yeah, is this alright to cut? I would question whether this even qualifies as meddling- odds are, literally everyone involved was behind the change.
The Play Station game Spider-Man 2 – Enter: Electro had the final level originally take place on the top of the World Trade Center. This is confirmed by the original level title, "Top of the World", and dialogue spoken by Peter Parker during the original cinematic prior to the final level. After the events of 9/11, the game was pulled from shelves (it had been released in North America in late August) and delayed in territories where it hadn't been released, and the level designers placed a bridge between the two towers to make the comparison to its real life counterpart less obvious. Given the fact that Activision and Vicarious Visions feared the content might have been considered "insensitive", their meddling was obvious.
Isn't this more Too Soon than anything?
