To my best knowledge — no. Links to Jossed only belong on the respective WMG subpage.

ETA: However, it is listed as Trivia. So I don't know then. Sorry. It's probably acceptable.

Jossed is, in pithy phrasing, an odd duck. It applies specifically to Fanon theories that get contradicted after the fact by canon. For it to apply, there must be a fan theory to be contradicted, and the example must state what that is.

The problem is that there is an infinite stream of fan theories that could possibly get Jossed, and listing every single one of those is impossible. So, ideally, we'd limit examples to cases where Word of God states that the canon events were intentionally written to contradict fan ideas, something Joss Whedon is known to do, and thus whence we get the term.

On WMG pages, the rules are a little bit looser, since every entry on one is a fan theory, and people like to note when those are explicitly contradicted.

From these points, we can construct a policy:

  • Jossed may be used on WMG subpages as a shorthand for "the canon contradicts this idea".
  • Jossed may only be used on Trivia subpages to note cases where the creator deliberately contradicted a fan idea, with Word of God as a mandatory component.

If we want to get really strict, we should limit uses on WMG subpages to the more precise definition, but that would require that someone go through and correct every single one of them. I'm certainly not volunteering.

There is no "infinite stream of fan theories" just waiting to be added to pages. This never happens anywhere and the 551 links this trope has certainly are not enough to make a case. So no we are not going to "limit" examples at this time.

As for Jossed and WMG, I have always been of the opinion that Jossed should not be mentioned on WMG pages, it's offtopic and nattery. And WMG by definition often turns out to be wrong.

I always see jossed on trivia pages. The page does mention it goes in the trivia tab, after all.

Based on the definition, it seems to be misuse to put jossed for certain theories unless it's known that creators specifically introduced plot points in order to refute fan speculation.

I agree with both Fighteer and Septimus. I was always under the impression that Jossed was suppose to go only on Trivia pages and not WMG pages at all. I would be for removing it entirely from WMG pages.

Just through a cursory glance of the pages it's on, it's a LOT (almost three thousand), and a lot of YMMV pages. Shouldn't those be removed as well?
