Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
From what I've seen in other people's edit reasons, "cut trope" means the trope itself has been cut from the site, and as such removing the entry may be the appropriate thing to do, if it doesn't fit within another trope. For example, that YMMV.Naruto page you linked had Counterpart Comparison removed, which if you click the link you'll see has been cleaned and changed to another trope.
Edited by homogenized^ That's exactly it.
Dangerously Genre-Savvy was cut a while ago, now it redirects to just Genre Savvy, and Counterpart Comparison is currently being cut.
Edited by PrimisNow that Counterpart Comparison has been turned into a redirect to a Just for Fun article, the example on YMMV.Naruto needed to go away because we specifically don't put Just for Fun anywhere on a work, even YMMV.
"They played us like a DAMN FIDDLE!" — Kazuhira Miller, Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom PainFerot's edits are legitimate, but I think it might have been a good idea for the edit reasons for Counterpart Comparison cuts to link to the discussion, which is what I've been doing:
First page, mod approval of change.
A mod approved of that change very recently (Dangerously Genre Savvy was cut several years ago, if I'm not mistaken).
Edited by GastonRabbit You can't always get what you want. Not to be rude, but I think your the one who is overreacting here. Ferot doesn't just remove stuff randomly, they have been a constantly doing edits to keep things up to date. Every time there are edits to the Naruto pages you don't fully like/agree with, you run here and point fingers.
Muramasa got."Cut trope" doesn't necessarily mean "I am cutting this example", it can, as it does in this context, mean "This trope has been cut".
I think this could have been avoided by checking the trope page, or PM'ing, before coming here.
The troper Ferot_Dreadnaught has been deleting random Naruto entries with weak edit reasons, which are often a very simple "Cut trope." That's literally it. They're not explaining why they're deleting the example.
Such examples include their latest entry in the YMMV.Naruto page: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=YMMV.Naruto
And the Naruto Uzumaki character page: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=Characters.NarutoNarutoUzumaki
