What do you remember about the show?

Do you know anything about the mountain in question (what it's named, what country it's in etc)? That would help.

I don't remember any of that. Like I said, this was decades ago, and I was a kid to boot. So I really don't remember anything beyond what I put in the original post. I think the "eww gross blood" shock factor is the only reason I remember it at all.

Are you positive it wasn't a dream? I just find it hard to believe they could get away with showing something THAT gory on primetime.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a dream. I mean, I've had the occasional dream that played out like a TV show before, but the subject matter was always much more surreal than this.

Also, it probably wasn't on a network TV channel. I did have access to The Discovery Channell and the like at a pretty young age.

Can you guess at the decade/s you saw it? Long long ago differs per one's perspective. :)

That's true. :) I want to say, mid-80s? Maybe early 90s?

A search for "mountains that haven't been climbed" revealed that according to Wikipedia Gangkhar Puensum is the tallest unclimbed mountain and part of why is due to climbing it being banned since 1994, which would be about the time you remember and explain why they were skydiving onto it. I can't find any evidence of a movie about it or an attempt to skydive unto the top of it however.

Thanks, but I don't think that was it. That mountain is high enough that it has snow, and the mountain in the documentary had grass.

No idea then. I looked up a few pages about famous unclimbed mountains but they all had snow so I'm at all loss. Are you positive it was a documentary and not a mockumentary or even completely fictional?

It's possible that it was some kind of mocumentary, but I really don't think so. There was nothing over-the-top or funny about it (that I remember), and it seemed to be on the level.

This is censored (blood), but might be a start:

Interesting, but not what I was looking for.
