I tried searching through the tropes listed on Double Standard and I'm still scratching my head.
If not for this anchor I'd be dancing between the stars. At least I can try to write better vampire stories than Twilight. The reason you're having trouble finding the double standard is because who's supposed to be older varies between audiences and cultures- there's an oddly broad fanbase for Stacy's Mom and Mrs. Robinson in particular, before one even gets into the whole Teacher/Student Romance thing...
Edited by Scorpion451I mean that's true, but I think those would be separate tropes, and honestly the reverse is probably nowhere near as widespread. The student/teacher thing is much more a Japanese trope these days too. Off hand, let me think of examples of what I'm looking for, because there are loads:
Aelin/Chaol and Elide/Lorcan in Throne of Glass
Gabrielle/Perdicus in Xena
Jane Eyre/Mr Rochester in Jane Eyre
Jace/Clary in The Mortal Instruments
Jack/Rose in Titanic
Danny/Sandy in Grease
Bella/Edward in Twilight
Anastasia/Christian in 50 Shades of Grey
Buffy/Angel in Buffy
Sookie/Bill in Tru Blood
Elena/Stephan in Vampire Diaries
....pretty much it's a staple of vampire romance actually.

I couldn't seem to find a direct correlation, but that age-old, practically mandatory rule in romance (novels in particular), which decrees that the man must be older and "more experienced" and the woman is younger and usually virginal? Seems like it's a combination of 'Nature Adores A Virgin' for the woman and 'Virgin Shaming' for the man, though neither quite hit the mark.
