@SamCurt: That's why I'm thinking the example should go on Shimoneta's YMMV page, under Perverse Sexual Lust, since it's a fandom reaction. But I wanted to be sure before I did, so I haven't added it yet.

I wouldn't mind failure so much, if I didn't fail so much.

@WhirlRX: So the example should go on Shimoneta's main page then?

Putting something on the main page that applies only to fans of the work seems like a stretch. If we don't have an Audience Reaction for when fans are attracted to a character, it means you simply can't list it at all.

On a related note, you should never list objective tropes on a YMMV page.

If we don't have an audience reaction for when fans are attracted to a character

I thought Perverse Sexual Lust was an audience reaction. It's right there in the page image and the description (quote):

And, of course, many animated characters are intended to be attractive to the viewer, in which case it could be argued that this is the response the character designers intended in the first place.

It isn't specifically about fans only, but fans being attracted to anime and video game characters is a thing. I figured it was YMMV, because it doesn't apply to everyone. Some people will find the character attractive, others may not, or they might think it's weird. But it still happens.

I remember there being a thread to have Perverse Sexual Lust turned into an in-universe only trope, but I don't think it was ever decided upon.

Going to the page doesnt give you the YMMV header, which means its not consider that any longer.

So the example would go on Shimoneta's main work page, yes?

The reason I ask is because reaction tropes like Ensemble Dark Horse and Breakout Character are both YMMV, even though there's objective proof of the character's popularity. So why isn't Perverse Sexual Lust considered the same, when there's also objective proof (i.e. fan art, fanfics, forum comments, etc.) of the fandom's infatuation with the character?

It's why I figured I should get clarification about which section (if any) the example belongs in.

I wouldn't mind failure so much, if I didn't fail so much.

Perverse Sexual Lust is In-Universe Examples Only - that's why it's not YMMV. So no examples about real people being attracted to fictional characters, sorry.

Since when? It's not mentioned anywhere in the trope description, or the In-Universe Examples Only index.

And why would it be when the description and page image clearly explains that it's about the audience being attracted to the character. If it's meant to be in-universe only, the description needs a revision to clarify that and the page image would need to be changed. Otherwise, it's misleading.

... I note that PSL is listed under Example Sectionectomy, despite, um, having examples. I'm not sure what's going on here, but it's clearly not what's meant to be going on.

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.

Didn't we kill PSL around the same time as Fetish Fuel? People were tmi-ing their personal kinks all over the YMMV pages and suchlike.

@Virodhi: Is that what happened? I remember Fetish Fuel getting the axe, so to speak, for the reason you mentioned. But I don't see how PSL is any worse than Ms. Fanservice, so long as contributors stick to objective evidence of it.

This Trope Repair Shop thread decided to allow in-universe examples, so I added it to In-Universe Examples only and removed it from Example Sectionectomy.

^Thanks for providing the link to that thread. From what I can see, it was ony agreed that PSL should be allowed to include in-universe examples. But no one said it should be in-universe only and neither does the current trope description.
