I guess it's trying to say the film is so realistic in its portrayal of WWII that veterans had flashbacks from seeing it. The "good" comment is definitely natter, but I think the comment before it is also misuse since either your interpretation is correct and it's not a sad or scary thing, or mine is and it fails Examples Are Not General.

I remember this and remember discussion that amounted to, "Veterans who saw the film were in tears because it was that close to the bone, the Normandy beach landing was so real and visceral, they were there, even if not at Normandy itself then maybe Omaha or the Pacific, they were there, their friends were there, their friends died there and they are still there, psychologically, today." See Shell-Shocked Veteran and the phrase, "There Last Night."

Can it be worked into a trope or a crowning moment? At the very least it could use an entry on the Trivia page saying, yep, this happened. There could be several good YMMV and audience reaction tropes it could go under as well, let me have a look here. Ah how about Heartwarming in Hindsight if we were looking at more attention being given to the likes of Rotary and Legacy and help for war veterans, recognizing what happened to them.

While it may not have been meant that way, the "Good" comment came across as really insensitive, and is definitely natter.
