Well, the Evil Overlord List was written by other people, but we do have a list at TV Tropes "How to" Guides.

A couple of ways that list could be used by the heroes:

  1. They could "reverse engineer" the standard tropes that the list is based on by reversing the advice. This would tell them what a standard Villain will do.
  2. By reading the list, they could figure out how a villain could avoid the standard mistakes that villains make and try to prepare for the villain doing that.

^ What I meant was; could the heroes actually use the advice offered by the EOL as if it were made for heroes.
