I was planning on moving This House and Unedited Footage to proper namespaces when I had the chance, along with other works from the same creators that are also in the wrong namespace, but I've not had the chance.
In other words, yes, the namespaces are wrong.
Current Project: The TeamThese are made-for-TV short films, which are ambiguous as to their placement.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool. What Burke said. They aired on TV originally, and were later uploaded to YouTube by Adult Swim.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99ยขThis House is a bit different. The main short film aired on TV, but there's over an hour worth of extra content online that is necessary to understand the "story", and this content includes extra videos and a whole different short film. Would it still be considered a TV thing if most content is found online?
Edited by WarJay77 Current Project: The TeamI don't know about Too Many Cooks, and not entirely sure about Unedited Footage of a Bear, but I'm pretty sure that This House Has People In It would belong under Web Original. In addition to the made for TV movie there's also mock Websites for the security company and the clay TV show that can be seen on the TV in the movie, as well as a You Tube channel for the clay TV show. There's a lot of hidden content on the mock Website for the security company that supposedly made the cameras that recorded the footage that can only be accessed in a method akin to AR Gs.
Believe in yourself!^ I think the other two would fit under "Film" because they're short films with, in the case of Unedited Footage, online bonus content that isn't necessary to understand the story. But This House is most definitely Web Original.
What about The Cry of Mann? It wasn't broadcast on TV as far as I'm aware, so that one should be Web Video too, right?
Current Project: The TeamThe original question seems to have a larger scope than is usually covered by ATT, and this problem seems to concern namespace confusion. Would a pre-existing projects thread be better suited for this discussion (as I'm sure there are more improperly namespaced pages out there)?
Regardless, I wanted to say that Too Many Cooks would be Film/, as it is a short. Meanwhile, This House should also be in Film/, imo, as it is a short with bonus content online, and for troping purposes it seems to make more sense to place it in the namespace fitting the original format/medium.
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they pretty^ The problem is that the bonus content is pretty much necessary to have any idea as to what may be going on. With the extra content, its a 2hr+ experience...
Current Project: The Team^^ Too Many Cooks is a faux TV sitcom intro, so having it in Series is part of the joke... Though we do seem to be cracking down on that sort of thing.
"It's just a show; I should really just relax"^ Maybe we can have a Just For Fun version where we treat it as an actual TV intro and then the serious version moved to the Film namespace?
Current Project: The TeamWe have always had in-joke problems. In the past, we've cracked down on meta in-jokes (i.e. those specific to TV Tropes itself). Nowadays, we've started cracking down on fan in-jokes. It's a problem because nobody but the fans could possibly find it funny (for the most part).
Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyOn that note, there are multiple works called "Too Many Cooks" - this may be a good chance to disambiguate them by year.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool. So, what should we do? We haven't really reached any consensus here.
Current Project: The TeamI've tried looking where they are placed on trope pages to help the decision, but it is just inconclusive; they're split between "Web Videos", "Live-Action TV" or "Films"....
I also have the feeling that a few examples linking to Too Many Cook might be for other works, but I'm not sure; I'd have to watch it.
Well, we know the live action tv is likely because of the namespace, so I would say it's best to ignore that one but they did broadcast on TV...
The only one I'm sure about moving is Cry Of Mann— it was never on TV to begin with, as far as I know.
Current Project: The TeamToo Many Cooks and Unedited Footage obviously can't be Web Video, as they both originated on cable. This House is a harder case to crack, but should probably match the first two.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.I'd say Film/ for all three, if we agree that short and Made-for-TV Movies can go there.
Still don't quite think This House really belongs in "Film", but I won't argue if there's a consensus.
Current Project: The Team
Would Series. This House Has People In It, Series.Too Many Cooks and Series.Unedited Footage Of A Bear be proper use of the Series/ namespace?
At a glance, it seems to fit more in either Film/ or WebVideo/...
