I think you're leaving out some details (was this a cop show, courtroom drama, ...?). I'll guess The Jury
, though I've never seen it.
I don't think so. The listed first episode doesn't match my description. Also, the other episode I was talking about had the woman die during a roller coaster ride, and there's no mention of that in the episode listing.
As for what the show was about...I forgot, honestly. Although, I remember the first episode having a part where they try to simulate how the murder might've happened, and they also try to simulate the possibility of the victim accidentally killing herself by slipping and hitting her head. Plus, I think the show was only about murdered victims, although since I never saw every episode, I might be mistaken.
It was a show called Justice, actually, and it was the first episode. The whole idea was that basically the guys the lawyers defend are innocent, but we have to see if their defense can get the accused from being found guilty anyway, hence why it was called Justice.
The guy who played Syd's father on Alias was the leader of the lawyers, by the way, and that was the pilot episode you saw. The roller coaster episode was another one I recall.
Shame the show went off after one season. It was a nice counterpoint to shows like Law and Order where EVERYONE is ALWAYS guilty.

I'm trying to remember the name of a TV show that was on years ago. Before its premiere, there were advertisements that said you'd get to see what actually happened to the victim when the episode was over. The first episode had something to do with someone killing this woman (was it his girlfriend/wife? I forget...), and her body was found in some sort of pool. The suspect was found not guilty, and at the end of the episode, you find out that she accidentally slipped and hit her head, became dazed (and was bleeding), and slipped again and died. At the end of another episode, you find out that some sort of faulty roller coaster had someone killed, because she either hit her head against something, or something came flying at her and killed her.
