Yes, we have a policy of not using spoiler tags on moments pages, but that doesn't mean things should be intentionally spoiled like that.

At the very least it's needlessly confusing, since someone looking up something for the character from that period is more likely to be looking for the old name, not the new.

Can't look at the history because of the risk of spoiling something I haven't yet seen, so I'll ask about the case I know about.

Is the character's real name either Eobard Thawne or Hunter Zolomon? Both those characters were actively impersonating someone else for a long period of time, so it's confusing to talk about the characters they were claiming to be. Though in the case of the character Thawne was impersonating, it's confusing for other reasons.

As I said last time, in those two specific cases, scare quotes (or calling him "fake [character name]" or whatnot) could be the best option.

I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.

So it's kind of like Mukuro impersonating Junko in Danganronpa?

We don't do that for other stories which use similar revelations. In Discworld's Thief of Time, we don't replace all examples of Ronnie with "Ronnie" or Horseman of Chaos. We simply say Ronnie Soak unless we're discussing the reveal or post-reveal. This falls within the site's rules of Present Perfect Tense for writing.
