I think so, but it's so broad that it might have to be a Super-Trope with no examples allowed.
What would be the main example? Kaiju?
Edited by ReynTime250Yeah but the name canbt just be Monster but Literal Monster or Stock Monsters, because of the prevalence of Complete Monster and its namespace ("Monster/").
Edit: Whelp, looks like this may already be covered...?
Edited by WaterBlap Look at all that shiny stuff ain't they prettyMaybe OP is looking Our Monsters Are Different?
^That's specifically for when commonly seen monsters are noticeably different from typical portrayals, hence the name.
There may be a case of Missing Supertrope Syndrome here, and if the supertrope is indeed missing, I agree with Zuxtron regarding examples (or lack thereof) for any newly created supertrope, simply due to how prevalent it would be. (A while back, Sidekick came up because it had a very small example list, and said list ended up getting cut; I was in favor of the cut because fleshing it out would have made the page very long.)
Edited by GastonRabbit 2 รท 0The concept of monsters has been a trope practically since stories were told. It's just that it's already covered on our site by dozens of more specific tropes, and could only live as a supertrope.

Used literally, the word "Monster" is an umbrella term that refers to dangerous fictional creatures or entities that are distinct from (physiologically normal) humans or animals, especially ones that are malevolent or that prey on humans. I feel like the concept of Monsters is a trope in itself (and an important one) but I wanted to see what other people think.
