Reddit and Medium are pretty dubious as far as reputable sources go, they're about as reliable as a Tumblr post is, just somebody blogging. The sources themselves are pretty bad. The national student insinuates that Rose was brought on to squash the idea that Finn was LGBT, which is a reach. Then further tries to compare Kylo Ren's alleged sympathy to real life mass shooters receiving sympathy in the media which is at best rather disgusting; real people died, they're not a gotcha to a fictional villain you don't like. The Empire having sympathetic points is old hat, the First Order are still explicitly the bad guys, and this seems to try to say that the movie is dog-whistling for the nazis.

I did remove the Reddit citation as it was rightly pointed out it was NOT a good source. However , generally if the implication is in there in film. If it it is of the Unfortunate type. Then does not the trope stand as is?

Reddit is definitely out, but Medium is a fair enough source. I'd say it can stand.

Tuvok, this NEEDS to have sources.

If the implications are there and noted in various sources and fans is that not validation enough?

Per the trope's definition the example needs to be noted in a reputable publication for it to stand. Something being noted in various forums won't always work. There's a huge quantity of opinions especially around something as popular as Star Wars. Even minor opinions can have hundreds if not thousands of people supporting them. Sticking to reputable sources filters out what could be just fan-wank, or at least that's the idea. Not every complaint is valid, and that validity is subjective, hence why this trope is so controversial and citations were put in as a requirement.

Sorry, I had a bit of trouble articulating this.

Thank you for clearifying. I had thought multiple sources and forums would suffice. Also have seen the trope used prior multiple times when it fited based on obvious unfortunate implications without the need for such strident backing and sources.

You're welcome mate.

Yeah, there are a couple examples floating around that are unsourced. I don't know what to do about sinkholes, but unsourced usually get squashed if nothing is provided.
