Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
Downplayed or in spirit seems like bullshit.

Troper heartshiningg readded Downplayed and edited out immortal undead. For their edit reason, they cite a supposed Q&A about fairies and conclude that because fairies have the longest lifespans, all the other races, which include vampires, therefore are not immortal.
The arguments I've given are that they've probably misquoted/misinterpreted the particular Q&A I think they are citing, that there's info that actually says the vampires of this series are undead, and that there's nothing that suggests they aren't the typical immortal undead.
Edited by ElfkaiserIf a person doesn't age or die still immortal. If they want to die the trope applies. No downplayed about it.
Again bump
Question for this thread, seems to me.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman
Sent Troper heartshiningg a PM discussing a recent edit of theirs in the Demon Clan page of the The Seven Deadly Sins rather than start an edit war. However, just gonna have an ask here from others on whether the reasoning they left for Who Wants to Live Forever? is correct?
They changed this:
to this:
Their reasoning was:
Don't know why downplayed was takened out of it. The author revealed, in a Q&A a long time ago, that Fairies have the longest lifespan out of all the species/clan meaning that they, all species/clan, are not immortal. This is also a downplayed trope because one of the scenarios, in the playing with section, of Who Wants To Live Forever shows an example of the said lifespan being longer than average but not immortal - which is in the downplayed category. Make sure you guys read the Q&A to keep tabs on the information that is sometimes not mentioned in the manga and also the playing with section of tropes so you guys can see the different scenarios of said tropes.
The Q&A I think they're referring to is this this one from chapter 132.
The exact Q&A was:
Q: Is the lifespan of the Fairy King longer than the rest of the fairies? A: It might be the longest out of all the different species.
My arguments that I gave them on this were:
The question is asking about the Fairy King variety of fairies not the Fairy Clan in general. This also goes with the Q&A that was originally in chapter 88 and later collected in the first fanbook that says the average lifespan of a fairy is 1000-1500 years.
Unless I'm missing something, these are the only Q&A that talk about fairy lifespans. Nothing in them say that fairies have the longest lifespans out of all the clans just that the Fairy King variety lives longer than normal fairies. All they talk about are fairies and no other clan.
I also went back over parts 1, 2, and 3 of the Vampire sidestory to verify things when I originally took out Downplayed.
In part 2, King states to Diane that vampires are undead. To defeat them, you either have to destroy their head or completely dismember their body.
The majority of what's depicted and stated shows that vampires in the series are the typical immortal undead that's common in other works. There is no info as far as I have researched that says that vampires are simply long living species and not immortal undead.
Any thoughts from others on the matter?
