Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
1. You could make the page in the sandbox namespace.
2. As you mentioned, the author shouldn't add anything that's subjective. Additionally, I think you shouldn't add Trivia items. See Auto-Erotic Troping.
See this page as well: The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours
Once you publish the page, you can also add it to Troper Works.

- Can I make a page for a work that I created?
Yeah, sure, go ahead. You're allowed to trope your own works. Just make sure you understand that once the page is out there, you won't have any control or ownership over it — anyone is allowed to edit it, and any editor will have the same rights and privileges as you. This is why it's a bad idea to make Word of God statements for your own work on its wiki page. You are also not allowed to create or add items to a YMMV subpage or related subpages, and you may not review your own work or add recommendations for your own work.
Folks, let's not cite The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours unless it is actually necessary, yeah? Most authors write pages on their own works without wanting to delete it later, that's actually an uncommon thing.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe portion of How to Create a Works Page I quoted probably covers the most essential point, anyway, that the writer doesn't "own" the page.
I have an upcoming work of my own that I'd like to eventually create a page for, but in the meantime I too would like to work on a draft of it before making the page proper. Are tropers allowed to have their own sandbox pages? As in, if I created Sandbox/StardustSoldier. Is that permitted?
Edited by StardustSoldierYes, it's a good place to experiment actually/
It's fine to use a Sandbox page for your personal content, but just be aware that articles in that namespace are not intended to be permanent, so you should keep an offline copy.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Okay, thank you.
Hello fellow Tropers!
So I have a novel due for publication on 9/4/2018 through a small press and wanted to make a page for it. I've been staying away from any YMMV tropes because it felt a bit narcissistic to try and point out a "Crowning moment of Awesome" or "Tear Jerker" lol. I wondered about two things
1. Is there a way of creating a draft of a page? I wanted to work on it on my downtime but would prefer to not make it visible until the publication date.
2. I mentioned the YMMV tropes being avoided earlier, are there more types of tropes you would recommend I don't add myself as the writer of the book?
Thank you!
