I would label it a DownerEnding because there was no question that Magneto would be beaten because its not a What If? story. Its not really bittersweet because the situation as a whole did not end up things looking better. In fact things got worse in general. Magneto already lost his kids, and was looking to punish not win so he was not expecting any sort of victory Pyrric or otherwise. A truckload of dead mutants and heroes, including Scott the last real leader the pro human-mutant peace cause had. Would put this in the downer section easily.

Compare it with Infinity War. That is a downer ending. Loads of heroes are killed, the villain achieves his goal and runs away scot-free, and there's no good ending anywhere (just some hope spots). Not the case here, as both the villain and the "man behind the man" (Doom) are executed for their crimes, and there's some catharsis for that.

A majority of heroes dead. The mutant peace movement dead and never recovered. Millions of New Yorkers dead. More downer then anything and nothing real sweet about the ending. No hope or upswing.
