Nope. It was a little more upbeat. The string intrumentation sounded quite similar, but faster, and I think this was more of a dance track.

For what it's worth, there were several dance remixes of "Bitter Sweet Symphony", many of which sped up the strings.

It isn't Clubbed to Death, and I'm 100% sure it wasn't any version of Bitter Sweet Symphony. I think it came out much earlier than those songs, possibly 1995 or 1996.

"Clubbed to Death" came out in 1995.

Maybe it was possibly "Walking on the Milky Way" by Orchestral Manœuvres in the Dark? That had Classical strings and a dance beat, and came out in 1996.

Right Here, Right Now by Fatboy Slim had a repeating string sample and (some) vocals. It was released in 1999 though, not the mid 90's.

Nope, neither of the two songs above. I'm sure it's more likely to be a producer or production group, rather than a band.
