Almost every time I see that the character seems to be drunk and doing the coal miner's dance
. I always just assumed it was equivalent to Lampshade Wearing. If so would it fit under that as a sign person is (or is trying to be) the fun drunk party person?
In those I've seen it didn't involve drinking, done by a Large Ham in Dominion Tank Police and a mobile Brain in a Jar in Ghost In The Shell (in the latter it seems to be a visual shorthand for "man this guy's old").
